View Full Version : Playback freezes at 5 seconds, but I can fast - forward

I'm authoring a disc using Spruce DVDMaestro. My method has worked perfectly many times before, but suddenly i have problems.

When I author the disc and then burn with RecordNow DX, I get this problem where the movie will play for 5 seconds than freeze. I can fast-forward, then it will play for another 5 sec. and freeze again. I can ff though the whole damn movie but it will not play. It does, however, play fine on my PC player.

I'm using the exact same media, software, player, and methods that have worked before.

The player is a Pioneer DV-503 (5-disc changer). I have no other harware-based set-top player to test on.

This is the same bullshit I used to get when trying to author with IFOEdit. Switching authoring apps fixed the trouble.

Anybody else have this problem? What did you do to resolve it?

1) what media are you using?

2) what spoeed are you writing at?

3) what type of dvd writer do you have?

4) is it a ntsc or pal movie?

5) how big is the file size?

I'm not 100% sure what the cause of your problem is, but I'd try the following.

1) Ensure your files exceed 700MB in size.

2) Try creating an .img file with teh "disc image" button in ifoeidt, and write that.
