Hi Guys
First post & Im new to this. I bought a Pioneer dvd burner.
Im using DVD decrypter.
What mode should I be using to allow me to rip a dvd to the very basics to fit it on a dvd-r?
Im doing a lot of reading but it gets confusing.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome:
Well.........get ready to go to work! You'll have a lot of fun with your new burner and this is a great place to learn, but there's a few things you need to do to set yourself up better. Here's a few suggestions.
Read the "forum rules" at the top of any page.
Visit the Basic Topics forum and read markrb's sticky on posting.
Hit the "search button" a lot, you'll find lots of good help there!
Get yourself some tools and give it a go, then post back when you get stuck (we all do!) You'll get a lot more help, and respect, after posting results, or lack of same. I forget which member said it first, but, "The search button is your best friend here." Yes, it does get confusing, I stay that way most of the time, but you'll be amazed at how quickly the pain turns into pleasure! Search, search, search.........
Good luck:

If its a single layer disc (<4.37 gig) then use iso mode to make an image of the disc. If its a dual layer disc then its much harder and you will have to read the forums.

@ ammck55: good point
just add that he should probably go to the guides too... afaik there are are few very good, comprehensive and fairly easy guides there.
@alan G: if you just want the basic (i assume you mean the movie :)you'll have to rip the movie vobs (dvddecrypter selects the right ones in moviemode) and then do some reencoding or transcoding. but as i said it's all in the guides.
oh and you might want to check out smartripper. imho it is a little easier to use for noobs (:
and as pls read the forum rules and try to obey them. you'll get a lot more respect from the 'older' members in here if you do.
regards
and have much fun with your DVD burner (I envy you :)

oh come on... please!
first of all instead of just telling somebody to use another program than the one he's using right now, give some reasons.
and please quit doing publicity work for DVDidiot; if somebody specifically asks for other guides, then go ahaed, post your link, but as in this case it is in no way related to the question and not appreciated.
regards
