Alright, I'm trying to reencode Terminator 2 Judgement Day to fit on 1 DVD-5. I've already ripped the whole movie to the hard drive and ran all .vob files through DVD2AVI converter and then proceeded to conver the .d2v file to a readable file by CCE using VFAPI. Here is where I run into my problem After converting and adding the .avs suffix to the file, it still cannot be opened by CCE.
One thing that I think could have caused some of this is that I did install QuickTime on my computer and now it wants to open any type of media file. Could that be causing it or is there something I'm doing wrong. I've been over the guides multiple times and I still end up right here.

cfduggan08,

How do you know CCE has not opened the file ? What errors are you showing ?
What version of CCE are you using ?
What Operating system are you using ?
Are you sure that you're *.avs file extension is OK ? Windows Explorer is terrible at not showing the proper extension.
This aside, it might have been better off putting this question in the CCE forum.
Never mind, it's here now !!
I'm feeling a bit grouchy tonight folks !!!!

Hmmmmm...
Feeling a bit grouchy? I'd say....
Anywho, I'm not at my computer so therefore can't tell you word for word what the error is. Sorry
Version of CCE is 2.5 but it's worked before this. Problem is not with CCE.
Windows XP Professional SP1
If I knew whether or not the .avs extension is ok, I wouldn't be posting this post....answer is no. This is why I'm seeking advice.
If you didn't notice, this is the first post I've ever posted on this forum...yeah it might have been better going in the CCE forum if it were a CCE problem. From my point of view, the problem is not with CCE....therefore I think the thread is fine where it is.
Aside from that...your grouchiness doesn't concern me...I don't care. Be nice.

Arghhhh,
The truth comes out now.....
So, CCE has worked before, that's a big clue.....

So, what does your *.avs file say ?
Go on, give us a clue ?
When I asked about the *.avs file extension, I am aware that sometimes you can end up with a *.avs.txt extension type.
Are you doubley sure about your's ??
I think you can ignore Quick Time as a possible problem.
And as for being nice. I am !!
You have given very little information, especially as it's your very first posting !!
I mean, is this your very first rip, or 101'st ? You don't tell us.
Yours,
Very Nice,

Dude, wheres the warm reception to the Doom9 forum? I know I'm fairly new, and I wasn't wanting to go into great detail about why this wasn't going to work...I was just hoping that someone out there had experienced this problem before and could offer an answer. Guess I was wrong so here it goes.....
There is no .txt extension after .avs....just *.avs. I believe 1 time it tried to add the .txt extension to the file, but I deleated it and changed it back to .avs. Windows saw it as a QuickTime document at first and after I uninstalled QuickTime, it defaulted back to Windows Media Player (which is the application the computer thinks the file needs to be opened in). The only thing that has confused me now reguarding CCE the 2 different file types: .avs and .ecl. When I try to open the .avs in CCE, it says "D:\T2\VIDEO_TS\t2.avs is not a valid .ecl file" (I think that is the correct error message and if not word for word, its something very close to what I just said) Why is it asking for an .ecl file?
Sorry I wasn't very specific but realize theres a right and a wrong way about calling people on their mistakes...Next time I'll be more specific.
P.S. No hard feelings homer

Ok....
*.ecl files are created by CCE (as are * vaf)
It looks as if you have a file of the same name, but ending in "ecl"
Double check your file naming convention.
I use Nero. I know it's naff, but it tells it like it is. (Unlike Windows Explorer)
When I use CCE, I right click on the centre of the screen, up pops the "add" icon, to which I then select the appropriate *.avs file. Is this what happens to you ???
warm reception from :-
HomerJ :)
PS No hard feelings taken.

HOMER YOU SAVED ME!!
I was trying to open the .avs by using the "open" selection from within CCE instead of right-clicking and selecting add.
n00b mistake??:)
Thanks again!
