In frames with bright red or blue objects i get lines, and blocks as the frames were interlaced, but in the preview in virtualdub the frames are displayed normally.
So i think there is a problem with Nic's xvid decoder 29-12-02. The frames are encoded with koepi's build dated 29-12-02.
I'm attaching a sample below.

Ive got the zip, ill try to create a new build see if it helps. I couldn't really identify the problem from the bitmaps though...but I get what you mean at least :)

Deep (vivid) red objects (e.g.) have 'interlaced', fuzzy contours...
I registered this problem at regular DivX5 decoder too. Less or more, at DivX5 decoder isn't this problem critical (isn't so strong).

MAYBE this is again the problem with YV12 output screwed on some graphics cards under certain conditions? For details, see here:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40286 But it might just as well be something else, just an idea...
@Nic: Didn't you wanna put in a switch for YUY2 output...

Yes its definitely a colorspace issue of a nature. Also its difficult to compare because the VDUB output would have been RGB where as the media player output would have been probably YUV...

Edited my above post...but well, Media Player output is YV12 with your decoder, if no other converting filters are in the chain, am I wrong? That was what my feature request for the YUY2 output was about, as YV12 is problematic on certain cards...remember?

As I wrote when I released this filter...yv12 is broken at present, so yuy2 will be the used output.

@Nic Thanks for looking into it.
When i unistall your decoder the clip plays without any artifacts, that's why i think is something wrong with the decoder.
The colorspace of the clip is YUY2.

I have Radeon 7000 (VE). This graphics card don't support YV12 overlay (YV12 output from Avisynth2.5 isn't bilinear aliased, forced YV12 output in DivX5 decoder too), only YUY2 overlay supported.
I registered this problem in YUY2, of course.

I have a problem... got some video's made using uManiac's - XviD.Root.27.11.2002.0020 build and they played back fine except when I did some test with B-frames(using Nic's build), then some of the video's with B-frames(testing only) would not playback would get an error and a black screen with big white letters scrolling across saying B-frame decoder lagged or failed to playback(something to this effect).
Ok so B-frames where testing only(using Nic's - XVID - 23-12-02 build).
I switched over to Koepi's - XviD - 04102002-1 build now and the sample's from uManiac's build dont play back right and have some weird problems(these samples have no B-frames). Then the samples with B-frames dont playback at all... its like the video is playing back and skipping frames or something(I believe its skipping the B-frames).
Anyone have any ideals why these two build are not playing back and I'm getting this problem?
The samples with B-frames where made using Nic's - XVID - 23-12-02 build.
All the samples made using Koepi's play back fine but his build is still installed and being used.
I'm gonna go about reinstalling each build and testing playback of the sample's... but I'm curious to whats causing this.
thanks in advance for any help
Edit:
There all playing back ok now except for the samples with B-frames.
The B-frame samples give me three different error's.
1) video plays but the video stop's while the audio keep's playing not even seeking forward will get it to play.
2) video plays then stops and the screen goes black... then at the top sorta big white letters scroll across stating something about B-frame decoder lag or something like this? (video may not play at all and you just get the black screen with white letters).
3) video plays but is very jerky... like the B-frames are being skipped over during playback.
All samples with B-frames made using Nic's build as stated above.
