Hi all,

I've been using IfoEdit succesfully (thanx to this forum)for some time now. When I have to back up a DVD9 I can easily split it with IfoEdit into two DVD5's. Usually you split the largest VTS_*.* set.

So lets say I have 5 VTS_01_*.vob files from 1gig each.
Using IfoEdit there will be 3 VTS_01_*.vob files (2,5gig) on disc1 and VTS_01_*.vob files (2,5gig) on disc2.

 My question is : can I somehow create the original 5 VTS_01_*.vob files from the 3 VTS_01_*.vob files on disc1 and the 3 VTS_01_*.vob files on disc2??

I have every confidence that in the future there will be DVD9 recordables so it would be very nice to know a way of merging the with IfoEdit splitted dvd9 back together!!

ideas anybody?

br,
Remco

You can join them back together using vobedit.6, available from Derrow's site. There's also a short guide that explains how to do it.

I've done it successfully at least three or four times.

There's another way to do it as well that entails demuxing audio & video streams for both discs and then reauthoring with two title sets. I've also done it this way a time or two.

DenFussel is correct. With Vobedit you can merge them back.
But to keep the original DVD structure you must have a backup of your original IFO files (usually few Kilobytes each).
This is what I'm doing after splitting, since I believe in the possibility of having DVD9-R in the near future.

Bye.

Thanks people,

Vobedit works like a charm.
Tested it on 3 different splitted dvd's - me is happy!
I always make backups of the original .IFOs so all the menus and everything is intact.
