Never heard of an MVCD either o_O;

And this is a basic topic, hence it belongs in the basic forum.

I have only heard of mvcd as being a start kit for sony digital cams. Is there another meaning for the phrase?

Here is a link to a mvcd test page!!
It is a template for TmpegEnc!

I am really impressed by the captured frames. Testing is needed.

edit: I see now at the page that mvcd is for mpeg1. If you are doing vcd which is mpeg1 maybe is the way to go, otherwise you should check other templates, suggestion: check www.kvcd.net.

There's a new version of this template, now it also offers MPEG2.
I've just done a 90min movie ("Slap Her... She's French") in 352*288, CQ90, highest motion search; 700 MB in a really goot quality (no artefacts, even 200% zoomed), and my Duron 900 did it in 6 hours. MPEG1 always made 900...960 MB, even at CQ60.

MVCD stands for Mug-VCD.
This is standard format for making VCD coasters you then can use as a saucer for your beer mugs

MVCD stands for MoleVCD.
I read that the Portable VCD/MP3/CD Player X4-Tech sold by www.conrad.de for about 60€ should be able to play this format, making it a very affordable alternative to a portable DVD player:
