Hi there,

is anyone out there using the Teac DV-W50E? I currently think about purchasing one, because it may be a nice alternative to the Pioneer A05.

I'd like to know, if it works with "budget media" like Princo for example at 2xSpeed and if it works with DVDMaestro and PrimoDVD.

As far as i heard, this burner is something like a "twin" of the Pioneer A05, right?

So if you'd like to post your experiences with the Teac DV-W50E, here's the place to go :D

I believe it is just a re-badged pioneer A05, so if it's cheaper than the pioneer badged model, grab it.

At most (Online)Stores I checked, the Teac was more expensive (!) than the Pioneer.

I ask myself, if it's really just a re-badged A05. I think it may have a firmware that may be lot different from the A05 FW. A friend of mine purchased this Teac Burner some time ago and 'til now he never complained about any problems when using "budget media"....

My friend bought it, and it is a pioneer 105 with 1.00 firmware, "no budget media allowed" one.

hmmm....well, that's quite funny somehow, beacause on the other hand A05 Users reported, that they have no problems with cheap media like Princo for example....so I wouldn't say, that the A05 doesn't "like" cheap media at all, because there are lot different kinds of cheap media and 'til now I didn't hear anything about a DVD-Writer that likes every media it was feeded with

Maybe the discussion about using cheap media or not will end soon, because the prices for "better media" may also be reduced, who knows? ;)
