View Full Version : is there an Open-sourced alternative to GordianKnot?

I've been using GordianKnot for a long time (since version 0.21, if i remember well) and was quite happy with it, until i changed from .avi to .ogm .
Right now i'm looking for an open-sourced alternative to GordianKnot, so i can hack it and make it generate .ogm automagically (using OggMux to ...well... mux, BeSweet to encode the audio in .ogg and SubRip to generate the .srt subtitles).
So the question is: if you do not use GordianKnot (or a closed-source alternative) what do you use?

Have you tried VirtualDubMod?
Not exactly the same as GKnot but it is opensource.

my program DVX is a GPL program written with VB .NET. It has a lot advanced features, almost everything what Gordian Knot has. Currently I'm working on version 3.0 which will feature a totally new GUI (goodby tab control) and a lot new and changed things. Most of the rewrite is already finished, but I won't rush a release and there will be a long non public beta test. Here are screenshots of some forms, so far there are 23 forms

If you know Perl, you can try DivX5Enc, i think it's not so difficult to add the audio part... anyway DivX5Enc is only an encoder/comptest tool for now, it lacks bitrate calculator/avs generator/audio (and i'm not going to add audio for now)

@Dolemite:
can i be in your beta testing? I'm really into dvd->ogm, so i could help with ogg problems.
(BTW, can DVX be compiled without requiring the .NET framework, so as to limit what you have to download in order to get it working; i.e. can it compile with VB6?)
@jonny (mio connazionale!)
what i really wanted is the avs-generator/wysiwyg-cropping (like GKnot)...

Well, once in a while I'm guilty of this too, but a gentle reminder folks, Keep the conversations in english please! (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm)
And if anyone has missed it by now, Gordian Knot is now an OpenSource project too.
