Has anyone noticed it's been more than 3 months since we've lost Rui to a DVD Recorder?:( :( :(

Yeah, he has just vanished; but I didn't know that was because of a DVD Recorder! :D

The most respected tester of all times! ;)

regards,
iago

BTW, "yaz" seems to have disappeared for some reason too! :D

Yes very much the greatest tester, helped me so much with dvd2avi_nic before I re-wrote it. Shame, his not around to test my re-write.

I suppose that puts you iago to the top of the tester pecking order ;)

Cheers,
-Nic

I suppose rui, could only look & encode the "The Replacements" trailer on his 450Mhz work computer, before getting bored. Its been around 4 months since I did a full rip, 'bout time I got testing properly too.

Yes, if Rui were around, he would definitely test all these issues with qpel, etc. on his "The Replacements" trailer! :D

First, i want to apologise for vanishing without saying nothing :o

Sorry , all! :(

Then, it's true: i bought a Pionner DVD Recorder (A04), and been doing some DVD experiments since then (i even created some DVD's out of some AVI xivd's i have, this well before Doo9m's posted his guide, and the final quality would surprise many...)
That way i can watch the movies at the living room, and not only on the bedroom. (the old problem of the computer being in the bedroom...)

Also, i changed places in my work, and that left me with VERY little time to do some tests at work , and was here that i made the tests with the famous "The Replacements" trailer :D
At home, most of my free time is consumed by the DVD experiments i do.

Finally, i want to say that i firmly believe in xvid, still have it installed in my comp, and one day a standalone (not the Kiss project) will appear that can play xvid, and then i will be back. :)

I want also to thank the kind words iago and Nic said.

It was a pleasure for me, gentleman.
And iago, you are the greatest tester ever, this for a long time ago. :)

Hey rui,

remember me from "modulated quants" days?

I'm sorry, too, that you left the "XVID testing scene" for DVD testing.

Whenever you have a holiday and plan on going to Berlin - PM me and I show you a few nice places.

Dont know if i get a dvd burner i think i would still fine XViD Quant 2 and ac3 mux a very interesting mix. 3 movies 1 dvd? Of course my multi-media is my computer no cd or dvd player here. RGB and optical out is my choice for sure.

Good to see you back Rui

@Shayne:

AC3 and with 1 Pass with Q2 for K-Frames and Q3 for P-Frames (no B-Frames) I'm usually able to fit 4 DVDS in 4.3GB.

My experience at Q2 makes me doubt you'll be able to fit 3, unless perhaps you use B-Frames.
