Cartoons look crap

For some while I've been recording movies from tv and encoded them with Gordian Knot.

They all look good.

But when I started recording and encoding Simpsons episodes, I got an inferior result, in spite of relatively high bitrate. I have to deinterlace because of strong combing on the original capture.

Does anyone know what to do?

you have to deinterlace all tv-captures...

Well, maybe in theory, but I've had success with no deinterlacing on quite a number of movies, they don't show signs of combing at all.
