I was using WinXP+FAT32 with VDub 1.4.10,avisynth 1.06,Gknot 0.26 and DivX 5.0.2. Everything worked fine.
I updated my system: WinXP Service Pack 1, NTFS, Virtual Dub 1.4.13.
Problems:
- Compressibility test in Gknot ("now" button) makes the computer reboot(!!!) at the middle of the process. This happened 2/3 times with Vdub 1.4.13.With Vdub 1.4.10 it's ok.

- 2-pass encoding stops at the end of the 1st pass(outputs some assembly instructions for debuging). This happened with Vdub 1.4.10.
When I unchecked the "protect log/mv file" option and installed Vdub 1.4.13 it was ok.

So, I am confused. Should I put old WinXP with FAT32 again? Everything was working fine! As my old programs don't work now, this means that it't NTFS's fault. My last hope is to install all the newest versions of the programs (avisynt 2.07, vdub 1.4.13,gknot 0.27) and see what will happen then. Has anyone encountered similar problems? Please help...

First of all, this doesn't belong in the DivX5 forum, read the forum rules (link is at the top).

Secondly, FAT32 versus NTFS ...

Hmm, you're saying that WinXP SP1 updates your file system on the fly? uhh, if it does (and I don't even know if that's possible) it can't be a good thing...

I was under the assumption that you had to pick your file system when you installed/formatted your operating system/hard drive... Curious, heh... I have Win 2k, and can have NTFS support (if I wanted to reformat my other hard drive), but haven't found a need for it yet...

Maybe I wasn't very clear. I reinstalled my OS using a WinXP CD with Service Pack 1 integrated. I chose my disk to be reformated as NTFS.

By the way, I installed Gknot 0.27 and all the newest versions of the programs I use (vdub, avisynth, filters etc). Now it seems that everything works ok. I hope it keeps wotking like that...
As for my post's topic, I didn't know where else to put it.It concerns gknot, vdub and divx 5 codec so...
