I have some video file that i want to recompress to other format using different settings with virtual Dub.When i am trying to do it, Processes stops at 80% and Dub says: "Unknown error ,unable to decode frame XXXX error code -100". When i go to Video-> Check video stream for errors, After checking finished i have "350 frames mask, 3 frames unreadable, 4 frames are undecodable. I tryed to use DivFix or AntiFreeze - Without any effect, Divfix does not find any errors.
Can anyone tell me how can i find these frame and cut them , or any tool that does it? (sorry if wrong forum) Thanks For any replies

iirc vdub should do that for you. After running 'Check video stram for errors' this frames should be masked out and you should be able to recompress.
You could also try to demux the video if the audio stream is vbr mp3. This is one of the symptoms of a fubared vbr mp3 avi.

Thanks for good idea, i'll try that. Meanwhile, if you don't mind, i have another question about the issue: When the process stops with this error on 80%(or whatever) there is the number of frame that was causing the error. let's say number of frame is x. The i go to frame x+10(for example) make it as start and try to continue the process (and merge peaces after) This fails. wiht the same frame x. To continue i have to go to the next Keyframe and make it as start - this is the only way the process can continue.
So my question is the following: No matter if i make this operation by myself,or The "video stream checking" does it (i'll check it now how it works), let's say that next keyframe comes at x+200, than after me or Dub removes the bad part, about 6 secounds of video will be absent, Won't there be an audio/videw desinchronization after that point? Or Dub cuts the audion part (from that bad video part) too ?
And besides, audio there is vbr mp3 but i am using VirtualDubMod,so i think there is no proble with vmr mp3 but i may be wrong.
Thaks In Advance.

It should be ok, but I can't guarantee it (especially with vbr mp3). I would recommend performing a direct stream copy first and see if it desynchronizes after the error.
But as you said you have vbr mp3 audio, is that already muxed in the source file? if yes you should really try to demux the video an see if the error disappers. This has happened to me several times (and made me absolutely hate vbr mp3 in avis).

Direct stream copy should work fine.
Open the .avi in Avsynth and recompress in VDub from there.
Use the directshow option.
example:
DirectShowSource("c:\my_movie.avi") Use the full path, of course:)
Each frame will be treated as a keyframe in VDub.
Should work fine. No need to delete frames!!!;)

Could you please develope that a bit more. It seems interesting, but I cannot get it to work. Could you please state what is exactly to be in the Avisynth-script - or is that all?

Well, I think you forgot something:
DirectShowSource("c:\my_movie.avi",25)
Correct should be correct. This one works fine...
Just a little detail, the 1000 Gb HD. ;-)
