View Full Version : Play button on menu won't work

I used IFOEdit to strip The Brotherhood of the Wolf to the main movie title only, re-encoded the main movie, recompiled in Maestro (using DVD9 to DVD5 full copy instructions), then used IFO update. Loading the video_ts.ifo into PowerDVD brings up the menu screen, all the buttons highlight with the cursor, and all buttons work except the Play button which, when pressed, just freezes the whole DVD. I can start the movie by selecting scene 1 but would really like to just press play. Same thing happens in my DVD player.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I would hope there would be a way of re-linking the menu play button with starting the movie.

No offense but how could you be following the full copy instructions if you're stripping things out? It is this "stripping" out that I can almost guarantee caused your problem. There are times that certain PGC's or vobid's are there just as "dummies". They are setup as such to initiate certain commands to program the player's registers. Once done, the final jump command tells it to go to the movie (or wherever else it is supposed to go). You never see this but the player does it. Now when you all of a sudden strip something like this out and it's not there anymore, the player tries to go somewhere that no longer exists and you're screwed!

Good point and no offense taken. I suppose I should call it a modified version of your method and I'm sure I caused the problem, I just wanted to fix it! Funny thing is I just tried it again in my DVD player and found that when first pressing play it comes up with disc error and goes to the player's default screen but if I press play again at that time, the movie starts. Wierd.
