View Full Version : Ripped several VOB files (music videos) but they won't play...

- can anyone help with this?

I have ripped a large chunk of music video files (each "video" is contained in it's own sequentially numbered VOB file).

However, although PowerDVD will play the disc structure perfectly OK and how I want it, my standalone player and IFOEdit's DVD player will not. Can anyone shed any light as to why?

Something maybe worth noting; on my Pioneer recorder (standalone) there is a circle "time" diagram on the LCD display which shows the total disc legnth and it fills up as the disc progresses - basically the disc will play until the circle is "full" - but this is only about 15/20 seconds on the disc I have created - even though I have put a full 4.7gb worth on the disc...

u say PowerDVD can play the structure OK. Is this in disk or file mode?

How r the vobs numbered. Can u give us an example. dir the direcrory in a txt file and include it in your post.

Does the files r on their own or inside a VIDEO_TS folder?

When burning the files did u include UDF file system 1.02?

The above questions just try to locate the most obvious problems that could arise. Since u don't provide any background info on your experience I tried to cover problems from novice to experienced level.

Happy New Year

Hi

The files are located in a directory labelled 'VIDEO_TS'. PowerDVD plays the files in file-mode - it just starts at the beginning and works it's way through each of them until the end.

Basically, in the directory 'VIDEO_TS' is the following;

VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP

VTS_01_1.VOB - movie trailer
VTS_02_0.VOB - 5 second blank screen "spacer"
VTS_02_1.VOB - movie trailer
VTS_03_0.VOB - 5 second blank screen "spacer"
VTS_03_1.VOB - movie trailer
VTS_04_0.VOB - 5 second blank screen "spacer"
VTS_04_1.VOB - movie trailer

- the first four files listed above were created by IFOEdit using the 'Create IFO's' option. I started up IFOEdit and selected the option, and then chose file VTS_01_1.VOB, from where IFO generated those four files. However, on re-loading those into IFO, they refer only to one sequence (ie the first movie trailer).

- I am not 100% sure what you refer to by UDF file system 1.02.

- hopefully someone can help me with the above info; thanks so much if you can - it's getting to me now!

Sorted! Sill mistake, really; just renumbered all the files to VTS_01_001, VTS_01_002 and so on... Created IFO's and hey presto! It worked!

Thanks all!
