Hey everyone... Does anyone know how to create what Maestro calls a "playlist" using Scenarist. Namely, I'd like to be able to have a button on a menu that plays only one chapter in a PCG, or plays chapters in a pre-defined order.
I love Maestro, but the company I work for is going to buy Scenarist, and I'd like to get up to speed with it befor they do.
The manual sucks! Doom9 Rocks! The guide is awesome.

What you are wanting to do is probably one of the more "fluid" aspects of Scenarist over something like Maestro. I suggest you learn how to use the GPRM registers. By setting them to different values, you can make your DVD do different things when it looks at a particular register. For instance, you would have a selection in a menu that goes to a "dummy" PGC which has a command structure that tells it to go to a particular chapter. Then the END of that chapter would do a quick check to see if a GPRM was set to a given number. If so, it would know you only intended for that chapter to play and then you could direct it to go back to the menu or something. However, if you chose the movie to play, the GPRM would be set to something else and it would just continue to the next chapter.
I know what I just said may not make a lot of sense but, trust me, it is a lot easier than it appears when typed. Just study up on setting DVD registers and how to create command links.

I think I tried something like this before I learned about "Playlists" in Maestro. What ended up happening was that the DVD player would pause momentarily between every chapter trying to decide what to do next. Does Scenarist allow these commands to happen instantaneously like a "Playlist" in Maestro does. I'll give it a whirl and report back. I'm just wondering offhand, before I get started.
