I know it is possible to just rip a dvd to hard drive and play back the vob files with excellent quality, but it plays at a reduced rate. Is there a way to play it at normal speed with out re-encoding?

Posting your question more than once is against forum rules.
If you use windvd you can create a playlist (other programs can create a playlist also).

Power DVD should suit your needs quite nicely. All you gotta do is swith over to 'file mode' and load up the VOBs

The options sound good, but is there away to make all the VOB tile into one large file without re-encoding? I need it to play in Windows Media player.

As it was said PowerDVD XP 4.0 is best player available on net so I don't see any reason why you should use WMP which is simply crap.
I could be wrong but vStrip is able to rip all VOBs from disc into one large file, however be prepared for 4 GB limit if you use FAT32 partition.

the reason I need it to play in wmp is because I have Media Center Edition so if it doesn't play in wmp then it won't play in Media Center. Please I need Ideas.

Mine WMP plays DVD from hd with menus etc. It isn't that hard. download and install the ax filters from doom9 site that handle m2v and ac3 playbak and u r done.

Thank you for the reply. I have gone through the filter section. I assume the filters of which you are talking about are the "Fraunhofer video and audio Codecs" ? And these will allow me to play back direct from the V0B files at normal speed?
