Hi-

Well, not in this new release (GKnot 0.27). But I think that as soon as XviD stabilizes we'll see direct support in a future release.

Hello,

I just did my first rip and I used xvid, the results were outstanding. If it works for a first-time newbie, would it not be considered stable? :)

I think it's a great idea! (IMHO)

Stable in the sense as manono said would mean that there's no new build on a daily basis and the way to access the encoder doesn't change from build to build.... so... wait for divx 1.0 and the successor of gknot.

I think you meant XviD 1.0 :)
Don't insult our beloved XviD!
Thanks for the introductory article to digital video article.
You work to hard Doom.

Successor of GKont?? How intriguing... When is this little gem expected to be available?

Hi-

Well, I wouldn't hold my breath. It depends more on the XviD developers than TheWEF and GKnot. But as you said, SleepingLily, it's easy enough now to use XviD. Just use GKnot for opening the .d2v, cropping, resizing, .avs generation and getting the bit rate. Do your audio separately through GKnot or by using BeSweet or HeadAC3he. Then you open VDub yourself and follow Doom9's or iago's guide. XviD even allows you to use higher quants for the credits (something DivX5 doesn't allow you if you encode directly in VDub).

be careful because the credits treatment seems to be broken in latest builds of xvid.

Hello manono,

Oh, bummer... Well, I’m sure it will be worth the wait when we finally get it. :)

I used the Xvid full guide. I have to say, whoever wrote that did an outstanding job. (No name mentioned, was that you Doom9?) I love writing tech manuals and how-to docs… hopefully down the road when I have much experience, I can offer something back to the group. What’s better between GKnot, BeSweet and HeadAC3he and why?

A little off topic... I just went back to collage this past year for programming (C++, C, SQL and VB) I am really interested in AI but this draws my attention too. What language(s) are used and how do you break into the area? Are there any how-to programming websites that help you get started with the basics?

Hi-

If the guides don't say who wrote them, then they're the product of the great man himself (Doom9-:)). He always gives credit for guides or articles on the site written by someone else.

As for which audio program to use, GKnot and BeSweet use DSPguru's (and others') work, and HeadAC3he was put together by DarkAvenger (and others). I can't tell you which to use. Try them all and use whichever you prefer.

I can't help with the programming questions. That's more TheWEF's department.

Thanks manono, I think I will check all of them out... That's half the fun. At times, the journey is better than the goal. :)

Hi-

At times, the journey is better than the goal.

Yep, I couldn't agree more. But if you need some help along the way, Doom9 has guides for both BeSweet (http://www.doom9.org/ac3tomp3.htm) and HeadAC3he (http://www.doom9.org/mp3-hac3.htm). There's also a more detailed BeSweet Guide (http://www.doom9.org/ac3tomp3-long.htm).
