View Full Version : Vidomi vs. anything else

I currently use Vidomi to do all my DVD to Divx rips. I process the audio seperately as VBR since it seems Vidomi tends to screw that part up (or might be me, who knows).

Anyhoo, my question is, I see no real mention of Vidomi here on Doom9. Is it largely considered "crap"? and do other program suites achieve better results? I've tried using GKnot and some others, but find them far more difficult to learn than Vidomi (which is pretty darn easy).

However, I would like to be able to get the best quality rips as possible and am wondering if I should put the time in to learn something else.

Thanks for any advice.

hi,

if u want to use some all-in-one pack u have :

based on mpeg2avi :
-------------------
simpledivx (divx5/Xvid)
the rippack (divx5)
easydivx (divx5)

on virtualdub (avisynth + besweet):
----------------------------------
Gknot (divx5/divx3)
Divx5enc(divx5)
Autodub(divx5/xvid/divx3)

the 3 first rippack have ripper (mpeg2avi was a fast encoder, but less quality), the 3 other are based on virtualdub & avisynth, no ripper encoding more slowly but with a better quality, and avisynth allow fine tuning with some filters.

make your choise.
Bye.
