Firstly Hello.
I have Hi8 tapes of local rock bands from 1990 that I am trying to encode to DVD.
My Fist attempt has been rather unsuccesful to say the least.
I encoded the Hi8 tape using haupaugge MPeg2 hardware card ( PVR 250 )
the resulting file was 4.3GB.
No editing was required, so I imported the Mpeg2 file into Sonic DVDit PE 2.5. ( so far so good ! )
I then created a first place menu with 2 text buttons.( 1 to the movie and 1 to a chapter menu )
This menu then linked to 4 menus with 4 thumbnail images in each menu dragged from the chapter inserts placed into the timeline of the movie.
All my links worked fine and the DVD image played fine on my PC but when I came to burn to 4.7GB disc the resulting complete image was a whopping 10.5GB ?
If i try to burn just the Movie file to disc DVDit still says that the final file size is over 5GB.
Can anyone guide me in the right direction, I have spent about 9 hours so far on this one project and feel rather fustrated.
I have lowered the bitrate for my next capture to 4800 Mbits / sec peaking at 6200 Mbits / sec
Hopefully this will give me a more acceptable file size.
Why should DVDit make the munu system file size so large...Is it because of the thumbnails ?
If I link a text menu with just the track names, will this be of a smaller file size.
If any of you out there feel that there is an easier way of an alternative software to use I would be most gratefull for your advice.
Yours sincerely
Darren
