I would like to rip Toy Story 1 & 2 from my Ultimate box set to a single DVDR for my niece to watch. So if she destroys it I'll just make another :)

What Id like is a simple menu (or to adjust the menu of the existing Toy Story) to be able to select TS 1 or 2.

So Id do something like this (I think):

* Rip entire movie using Smartripper (about 4gb) (To one 4gb file or several 1gb VOB's ?)
* Cut out end credits with vstrip and vobedit ensuring nav packs at start and end.
* Strip away unwanted streams - Whats the best way ? When I try to strip away excess streams with Smartripper, I dont get any navigational packs according to VOBEdit and IFOEdit, and VOBrator gives access violations and shuts down!
* Use TMPEGEnc and DVD2AVI to reencode file to around 2gb (Anyone have optimum settings they would like to share, or a faster/better way?)
* Repeat for Toy Story 2
* Use something like Sonic MyDVD (which came with my DVD Burner), Ulead DVD Workshop/DVD MovieFactory, SpruceUp etc to create menus and chapters (Unless I can modify the existing menu on one of the DVD's ?)

BTW: This is the R1 NTSC version, if that matters. First movie is 81 minutes, second is 92 minutes (incl credits. From IMDB)

PS I would like to keep the chapters, or at least have chapters put in at the occasional scene change.

cheers!

Hello,

to help u begin with,

u rip with smartripper or dvddecrypter. Both r excellent programms even though most people think decrypter is better. U rip as is, that is to 1gb files

no need to strip away streams since u r going to simple reauthor the project.

I would suggest reencode with CCE. Far better quality and the option for one pass vbr would result in 2 video streams in less than 2gb to combine.

use chapterxtractor to obtain the chapter timecodes for your chapters.

A single menu for selecting the 1st or the 2nd movie is enough. I do it all the time for my son, I have dvdrs that have 3 movies in.

If I was going to do this I would

Strip out main movies and chapter points (Video and English audio) using DVD Decrypter

so youll have a audio, video and chapter file for each movie

create custom menu screen in photoshop or similar

import the lot into Maestro and re authour using that

Sorry if you need more detail (this is on this website)...if so drop me a line and ill try to help you out.
