Hi! I wonder if anyone can help me. I dropped my Matrix DVD disc into the turtle tank and now was trying to encode it into DivX. Unfortunately, now I have all sorts of scratches and dents on it, and whatever I do, I cannot retrieve any of the .IFO or .BUP files from it. I would appreciate it if anyone could e-mail me those files. My e-mail address is lotek_minion@yahoo.com.
Thanx,
Mike.

IFO is unnessecary, its presence is only optional if you want to encode all VOBs using Flask/XMPEG
Just encode each VOB separatelly and merge them in VirtualDub/NanDub

Well, apparently, the Matrix has some problems without the IFO file. Some scenes loop back on themselves three times before continuing for some reason. That's how I assumed it needed the IFO. That's kind of weird, becase no other movie had that problem, and now here's this weird looping back again and again...

I think that the looping you are refering to is from the angles that are said to be in this movie. I had this while doing "spy kids" dvd to dvd-r. I didnt understand what was going on but after reading here I learned that if you strip out the video without striping angles you dont want, all the angles are present in your stripped out video file. then your video seems to "loop back" several times in some places. The ifo files navigate through these areas only showing you the angle you want.
Someone else could explain this better but this is basically what is going on I think.

without the ifo files I dont know for sure how to go about doing this. Possibly vob edit might help. You need someone with more experience than I to tell how to do this. Run a search on angles or remove angles. This may give you the lead that you need. Sorry to not be more help.

Goddammit there are no angles, I've read *everywhere* just about now that the matrix DVD was not designed properly to begin with... nNyone spare an IFO, please?!
