Hello.

I was given a JVC GR-DVL166EK mini dv camcorder for christmas and i have installed Dazzle DV-Editor SE IEEE1394(firewire) hardware on my pc and Ulead video studio 4 software.

Can anyone please tell me the best way to capture video from the camcorder and transfere it onto cdr to play on a dansai dvd player.
I usually use dvd2svcd to convert my dvds to svcd to play on the dansai.

The only attemp so far i have made was to capture video using ulead leaving a .avi file which when i tried to convert using dvd2svcd the message appeared saying "unknow fcc type in header (iavs)"

Many Thanks

cheers kipper

Just found ://www.mrbass.org/dvd2svcd/dv/ and i thinks its exactly what i need.

Another problem is i have an iron age pc (350 mhz) and a couple of gig left on hard drive (although i may have access to another pc). I am only looking at doing about 30 mins of video off the camcorder.

Thanks

I have used the canopus dv file converter to convert the .avi produced by Ulead which was successful.
My problem is when encoding cctsp is performing an illegal error and closing down, This happens while transcoding.

heres the log:

Converting Audio to MP2. Filename: C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Extracted_audio_1.wav
Executing BeSweet. Commandline:
"C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Extracted_audio_1.wav" -output "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\MOVIE\Encoded_audio_1.mp2" -logfile "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\MOVIE\Encoded_audio_1.log" ) -ota( -g max ) -ssrc( --rate 44100 ) -2lame( -e -b 128 -m s )
Audio conversion of C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Extracted_audio_1.wav finished.

I read reports about the Canopus Codec being a little unstable. Try this instead:

---AVS Begin---
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\SIMPLE~1\SIMPLE~1.DLL")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\MPEG2DEC\MPEG2DEC.DLL")
DirectShowSource("C:\PROGRA~1\ULEAD\ULEADV~1.0SE\2\2001-CDV.AVI", 25)
ConvertToYUY2()
SimpleResize(480,576)
----AVS End----
I assume you live in the PAL world, else replace the framerate (25) with what's appropriate for you.

By the way: the guide you are following is not very good. In fact you should use anti-noise (try a value of 2 in the beginning), especially for noisy low-light shots. You may also want to try some additional filtering like Convolution3D.

Thanks for the help.

I actually use canopus dv file converter seperately from dvd2svcd leaving the converted .avi file.
I altered the script as you advised me to do but cinema craft encoder is still performing an illegal operation and closing down whilst transcoding begins.
I'm going to take my avi file to my sisters tommorow where i do my dvds and try it on her computer.
Cinema craft also crashes when i open it seperately and click on new.

Thanks

Sometimes I forget to mention that:

Add a ResampleAudio(44100) to the end of your AVS file (workaround for a silly CCE 2.50 bug).
