I just came up with an idea that some of you may feel has merit.

After seeing all the posts concerning problems transcoding, mostly with Rempeg2 or Tmpgenc, it occurred to me that if there were some way that we could share successful configurations for these two encoders for particular movies we've backed up, we might make the process a little smoother for each other.

What do you think?

Some options with the movies that dont offer good results with ReMpeg2!

With Attack of The Clones and Reign Of Fire....
First you must detect the exact location of video problems after transcoding. After that you can transconde only the VOB files without these parts and then remux them with VobEdit
This method works form me!!!!!!!!excelent quality
It also works with Minority Report

This information is of little use unless you really specify the DVD, maybe by ISBN, since there are many versions of every movie. NTSC and PAL plus different regions, and director's cuts, reissues, collectors versions, etc.
This also takes away any decision making on the part of the user, which, to me, is most of the fun of it.
And then, if all you want is what percentage to use for a given source file size, use a bitrate calculator.
