hi,
is there any reason why there was this change from Smartipper to DVD Decyrpter?

Yes. DVD Decrypter = good, Smartripper = bad. Honestly, scroll back a few pages on the decryption forum and look how many people were having problems with smartripper. The solution for them: tada... use DVD Decrypter. I honestly wouldn't have okayed switching the program if I couldn't stand fully behind the decision. For a long time now I have used DVD Decrypter EXCLUSIVELY (meaning I gave up on my beloved cli vstrip) and I haven't had the slightest problem ever. So, I believe that this move will help reduce the number of ripping problems people are having. It starts with not having to worry about an ASPI layer anymore as DVD Decrypter works like a charm in W2K and XP without an ASPI layer. DVD Decrypter really shined in my last ripper comparison which was done quite a while back (http://www.doom9.org/dvd_ripper_comparison.htm), and I then decided to extensively test DVD Decrypter and should no problems ocurr switch out SR with DVD Decrypter. A long time has passed, DVD Decrypter has never let me down - on the contrary it has been getting better and better and now the move has been made. The whole DVD±R section has been using DVD Decrypter exclusively for almost a year now and I never once regretted making that move.
