Dear Admin,

I would like to know WHY everytime, I replied to a post with my answer to the question and everytime I do that, I got a WARNING email from you saying that I've violated your rules. I'm not selling anything here. I have tons of guides that are FREE to use, which MEANS no cost to you. So why are you saying that I'm spamming. Spamming is selling and selling is not what I'm here for. I'm not trying to make any money out of anyone here. Yes, I did ask for a Donation and so are you ADMIN. If people are appreciated with my work, then YES, they can donate me $1 or more if they like.

A gudie without pictures is useless for NEWBIES, so that's why I've created all my guides step-by-step with every pictures that walk you through the process. Remember, a picture means a thousand words.

This is a scam, www.321studio.com they are scamming about theirs DVDXCOPY this is a piece of crap software and it doesn't work for everyone. But my guides are working for over 100 members so far.

ADMIN, please tell me this. Should I not give your members any help when they needed it. Should I not give them any free answers to theirs questions. If you stop by my site and see, all GUIDES ARE FREE so why are you keep saying that I'm spamming...Spamming is selling and I'm not selling anything on my website. I just want to help everyone in the world. The more I help, the better I feel so why I can't help them?

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year ADMIN & EVERYONE!!!

Very interesting....

I've had a small visit to your site.

I did notice that donations are REQUIRED to have access to these pictures.

Your luck that I'm not the admin for this forum, because I would have banned you for that post

Newbies read Doom9s guides !!!

I just went to
http://www.hostultra.com/~dvdplanet
and went to the guide section,so I hope that is the correct site and area...

I have tons of guides that are FREE to use, which MEANS no cost to you.

Would you please give me a link for this? I do see you have some on-line information; I looked at a few of the guides at the bottom of the page, however if the following is true...

A gudie without pictures is useless for NEWBIES, so that's why I've created all my guides step-by-step with every pictures that walk you through the process. Remember, a picture means a thousand words.

Then those guides are useless for newbies without a donation. I would have to agree with TactX, that newbies should read the doom9 guides.

@DVDIdiot
Maybe the site has another section that I missed?

Do what you have to do, if you want to do it the hard way, then read those FREE guides and try to confuse yourself more. If you DON'T like my reply to your post, then DON'T read it. Just ignore it, just like watching TV and when there's a commercial, you don't have to watch it, just switch to another channel. You do the same here too. Just don't read my repost to your post, and you'll be fine. No need to ban me out you RUDE!

since i started ripping dvd, i've been through divx-digest, doom9, and vcdhelp (in that order), and i'd have never once notice, that they force anyone to donate money just to see pictures.

donations should be optional; just like every other website.

i'm pretty sure you did a good job creating pictures to help newbies walk through it, but what happens when a error accures? how will those pictures help?

also, isn't your quote post to be "a picture worth a thousand words" not "a picture means a thousand words," unless that's not a direct quote.

Not every Television tolerates and broadcasts commercial programs just like Doom9.org doesn't tolerate spamming posts:p

DVDIdiot,

I have visited your site, just to see what all the fuss is about. You post information on there that is ONLY available for payment. You call it a "donation", that's a little insulting if you ask me. I'm sure a lot of charities would also agree.

At the very least you are sailing very close to the wind on this matter.

Um, so why REQUIRE donations?

As you can see, no other guides has pictures that step you through the process, not even www.vcdhelp.com nor www.doom9.org has pictures that step you through the guide
Um, what?

Dear DOOM9 members,

I'm very pleased to tell you this. If these free guides are so helpful, then WHY are you here for? Just give me one answer please. When you dontate to my guides, you not ONLY get all pictures UNLOCKED, but you get my support by writing out a special guide on your DVD TITLE that you cannot backup. Can Doom9 or VCDHELP do this for you???

Thanks for you time and please accept my apology if you're offended.
Happy New Year everyone!

Did I say I did donated over $40 in the FORUMS and didn't get much help? They didn't even write out the guide on my Special DVD that I couldn't backup with.

Remember, you're not only donate me to get all pictures UNLOCKED, you also get my support and can request a new guide if you're stuck with that particular DVD. As of today, no other sites can do this for you. WHY? Because it would takes a long time to write out new guide and especially if you have 20 new members and all of them wanted a new guide on theirs DVDs that they couldn't backup. Do you think donating only $1 worth my time? To tell you the TRUETH, it's not worth $1 for me to write out 1 guide that would takes me up to 11 hrs to write. Just think about it, how long it takes to take a snapshots of every single steps and then write it out on HTML. Do you think $1 is worth 11 hours of my time? By giving $1, paypal will deduct 34 cents and I only get 66 cents. ONLY 66 cents here, but this 66 cents is not much to me, but with this small donation, you're showing me your appreciation of my work.

Now do you guys understand WHY I must asked for ONLY $1 ???
I can give you free guides, but I won't answer or help you when you're stuck with a particular DVD. Would it worth your time trying to search all the FORUMS for your FREE answer and would be days after days and still search or would it be easier just to give away $1 to get an instant help when you needed. Instant meaning within 24hrs sometimes even sooner. Depending if I'm online, but should be answered within 24hrs. If you think $1 is a lot of money to you, then you should be here searching for your FREE answers all days long and all nights long.

If I'm talking too much, please excuse me. Again, I love to help all people around the world, but sometimes I need people to appreciates my work. One last question: Do you think that I can buy a new DVD with your 66 cents? This is an example of how much money I can make out of 1 donator... $0.66 - $21.61 for buying new DVD would be a lost of $20.95. Now am I making any MONEY HERE!!!
Think about it people.

Buying new DVD ?
You're insane, man.
I pay 1-2$ for borrowing a single DVD title from video store and 0.2$ for blank CD and waste 7-9h (CII 700MHz) for convertion to MPEG4 format.
Despite fact I live in Poland and my english is still in improvement-phase, I've been successfully taught many encoding techniques (DivX/XviD/SBC) by reading Doom9.net guides in merely 2 weeks

Yes, I am insane by helping people. I love to help people and that's my hobby. Did I tell you that I used to be a Computer Technical Support? Since the 911, I still have no job and still unemployed. Again, I'm insane by helping people around the world.

Happy New Year Everyone!
I have to go now and I won't be back here until Feb or March 2003
So I won't bother most of you. I will leave all of you here trying to search for an Unanswered answer for your problems...

Good Luck with all your DVD Backup needs!!!

i would really like to see his personal replies if 25 people asked for help and donated $1 each especially as they take so long to do.maybe its easier to save a page from doom9 and print it then take your own 11 hours with the support from these forums where most people use the guides so everyone has something in common.
By the way without the help from doom9 i still would be chasing the wind.

I'm relatively new to DVD ripping, past few months or so, I was advised to check this site for help and guides. I've no problems with them and found them very helpful. Sure, the guides don't answer everything, but wheres the fun in having everything explained totally? *shrugs* I get a great sense of satisfaction from trying to solve problems myself and then asking for help if I'm about to throw my PC out the window:devil:

Paying for help dosen't encourage a community, it just helps a buisness.

DVDidiot:

You get a warning and your link edited each time because your post is in violation of forum rules. Simple. After reading this thread, I've visited your site out of curiosity, and after going over a couple of your guides, they appear to be pretty well thought out, but that's not the point.......using Doom9 as an advertising agent is. IMHO, you'd have a much more solid case if people were posting with positive feedback on your fee-based visual aids, none of which I have seen yet. But then again, maybe it's the old "Hollywood Rule" in action here that deems any publicity to be good publicity.

@Homer--My thoughts exactly.
@Nosferatu--Your English is doing fine. It chills me to think of trying to learn these encoding tecniques in a second language! I don't believe Doom9 has a Polish forum (yet!), but my hat is off to all of you guys that hang out and participate in the English forum, working with a second, or even third or fourth language. I would offer to help you in any way that I can, but it appears as if I will be the one needing help from you! Rock on.

I wondered at first why this thread wasn't closed, but I'm glad now that it wasn't. Do I sense the Sword of Solomon raised here? Anyway, the posts in Newbies and Basic have been slow this weekend, and this has offered some entertaining reading. For anyone that hasn't read it yet, they've got a good one going over in General Discussion on "Ethical Questions", it's a really good read too, with some spirited debate.

My bottom line.......Doom9 kicks ass!

@DVDidiot

I think that posting here should be a process of contribution - so
one either posts to ask about a problem, or replies to an existing one.

I don't see why you shouldn't help users here by posting actual help rather than ads to your non-free guides. I have no problem with the
existence of your guides, however I do not understand why you do not want to help doom9 posters directly. Perhaps your time is money,
in that case why waste time here? I think your site would be greatly helped if you were to post on the doom9 forums real technical answers to questions here rather than 'links' which are just ads. People would get to know more about your technical knowledge, much better than an 'ad'.

I have read through all the posts in this thread, and would just like to say in my humble opinion, that I have used Doom9 forum for a while now and all I can say is that the people who run this forum and this site must have heads the size of planets. Everytime I have posted a question on here it has been answered swiftly and correctly.

I don't think there is any need for anyone to go to this site to get pictures of how to do things. The guides are sometimes a little ambiguous, but hey, I'm no Einstein and I can figure them out.

If anyone needs advice on backing up dvds then I think you cant go past this site. I would like to day thankx to all the senior members of the forum and all other members in this forum who have helped me in the past and who will no doubt help me in the future.

Keep up the great work guys!

that i'd rather call it support, and not help, what DVDidiot is offering. appart from that, he's just insulting the whole community around doom9. especially if he's saying that you can't get help for a special DVD here. i see lots of threads asking for help on a special DVD and almost all of them have lots of answers to them. in my humble opinion the idea of having to pay (YES it is pay and nothing else since "reguired donations are nothing else but payment") one guy to give me support if i can have egual, if not better support over here exactly for 0$. the only thing is that i no, after so many answered questions i got from other members, i kind of feel it's my duty and help those who are less experienced in this subject. anyway i think it's great fun, searching around the forums and trying to answer questions or just find answers to a long ago set aside problem.

ok end of this 'speech'...
long live doom9 (- well someone like DVDidiot can't harm us for sure!!)

well in german you call that a "Freudscher Versprecher"

sorry but my english knowledge is not sufficient to translate this to english without a decent dictionary and even if i had one, there's probably no way to translate it without at least a slight loss of it's original meaning.

edit well here's the translation thanks to warpenterprise:
Freudian slip

anyway i'd explain it in short:
a "freudscher Versprecher" is if you say something you didn't intend to say, but you were unconsciously thinking about it.
named after good ole Sigmund Freud (:

ok well probably there is a similar frase in english anyway -> would be nice knowing.

hope you all get my point though

well.. you asked for me, now you got me. You and your associates are blatantly advertising for a competing site. And that's just it.. you do not post here to help other people.. all you do is tell people to visit your site. Posts which contain no or very little informative content or valid questions are not welcome here and will get you a strike for rule5 as soon as a moderator discovers it and that's the end of the story.

@killingspree: judging by the IP adresses there's no match so rule 14 can't be applied (I'm really looking forward to IPv6 when we no longer need to dynamically attribute IP adresses.. it will be much easier to identify double registrations).

killingspree
9th January 2003, 14:46
how dynamic ip adresses are handled? i get a new ip adress every time i log on to the internet so how can you tell if two nicks are or are not the same if the user only uses them on different sessions?
