OK, Right now I feel like an idiot. I told GKnot that I wanted to encode a movie for two cd-s. Then I thought it would make two files, one for each cd. But it ended up making one doublesized file. Did I do something wrong? And what do I do now?
Manono? Jiggimi? Hakko?

Don't worry, that's perfectly normal. GKnot doesn't split the resulting avi for you so all you have to do now is use nandub to split your large avi file into two smaller ones.
You can follow the splitting guide here:GKnot Splitting guide (http://www.doom9.org/gknot-split.htm)
Good luck :)

Great! I still have some way to go, apparently. I didn't know it was THAT simple. I have never looked into Nandub, I've always thought it was similar to VirtualDub.

Your right, virtual dub is very similar to nandub. nandub is better for audio prossecing, video filters however are better in virtual dub.

although nandub/virtual dub can split your file adaquately you may want to try avisplit calc which efficiently splits according to file size or film time. Its a bit faster too . . (u still need nandub)
