In attempting to play several recent releases that have been put in .avi format I have encountered a problem with audio playback several times.
I am apparently either missing an audio codec or I have issues with my 16 bit soundblaster.
The codec that I am apparently missing is called 'Wave_Format_Ac3' by Dolby Laboratories.
I have done endless searches for this on google and dogpile and several other search engines using every possible combination of search criteria that I can think of.
My suspicion is that I'm basically SOL unless I get a surround sound audio card. Honestly I'd rather not make the investment but if there is no way around this problem I will break down and pay out the cash.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
