DE-iNTERLACE a movie?!

well i have this problem. the movie im gonna backup on my hdd getting interlaced.. i can see in DVD2AVi thats the movie is interlaced.. i dont know if its my settings that doing this.. im trying to do a dvdr.. i know there is loads of tutorials but i dont find what im looking for.. VirtualDUB wont open any of my avi files that i did with teh VFAPI program.. anyone could help me?..

Keep it interlaced, and encode in interlaced mode (you said you're making DVD, so I suppose you're going to encode in MPEG-2)
