View Full Version : Spruceup/Win2000 problems with mpeg2 clip properties

Anyone here use Spruceup 1106 on Windows 2000 to author SVCD mpeg2s to DVD? Using the (S)VCD to DVDR guides I've authored several working DVDs. When I had Win 98, I had no problems joining mpeg2's, demuxing, and setting chapter points in Spruceup, but I decided to upgraded from Win98SE to Win2000 because of the 10 gb file size support. Now everytime I access the clip properties for an mpeg2(.m2v) file I get an error dialog from windows about spruceup.exe doing something and then shutting down. I also noticed that the mpeg2 clips don't play right anymore in wmp 7.1 or 9 even with some mpeg2 codecs installed. If I move the slider the wmp locks or hangs. Btw, mpeg1(vcds) still seem to work. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds to me like you have an MPEG2 codec conflict. Do you have more than one DVD player installed? Generally this wouldn't cause a problem, but...

If you DO have more than one software DVD player installed, I'd remove one, and then if you still get no joy, I would re-register a decent set of MPEG2 codecs (e.g Ligos / Intervideo / Cyberlink / Ravisent Cinemaster).

I'm not saying this answer is definitive, but please try it.
