View Full Version : How can one replace warnings....??

Did a search couldn't find it, so I would like to ask:

I want to replace the warnings on some DVD's with m2v's made from my own stills...

I have split the required VOB files into separate ID's, so I can remux the new m2v file in once I have created them:

First, how should I create the m2v from the bmp file? CCE? TMPGEnc? Vdub? Can I somehow edit the original m2v file and just overwrite my stills on top for each frame? If so, how? This would be probably the safest way for consistency.

Second, as long as the frame count is the same as the original (and dimensions, framerate, etc) I should be able to do a simple remux of a newly created (i.e. from scratch) m2v, right? (Using, say, VOBEdit)

Anyone want to take a hack at some advice?

OK, I made it work, but I think I made it much harder than it had to be....

Here is what I did:

1. Found the VOB ID that contained the warning.
2. Split the VTS into VOB ID's. (VOBEdit)
3. Demuxed the appropriate VOB ID to an m2v (VOBEdit)
4. Used AVISynth with the VirtualDub Logo filter to place a still image over every frame.
5. Recreated new m2v with CCE/Avisynth
6. Used pulldown
7. Imported into Maestro to create VTS_01.VOB
8. Split out VTS_01_001.VOB from THAT file (VOBEdit)
9. Replaced the ORIGINAL warning VOB with the new one I just created
10. Joined VOB ID's (VOBEdit)
11. Replaced original VTS (containing the warning) with the newly joined one
12. Get VTS Sectors (IFOEdit)
13. Play film with working new replaced warnings.... Worked fine!

So. It worked, but I think I am working too hard.... Anyone tell me what I can cut out, or a better way to do this?

the only thing that u could change is the the steps 3, 4, 5.

Take the lenght of the warning, add a still bmp image in a timeline in Maestro and build a audioless vts vob that u demux to get the m2v u want. Better still search in the folder where u had your bmp image and u shall find another new folder from Maestro that is labeled somthing like 'stills parsed' or something. In there u will find a m2v file that maybe u can use so u can skip the vts creation. Never used it and I don't know if this file is usable.

Thanks for the reply.... I tried your solution, but Maestro seems to add the image as a "slideshow", and the m2v that it creates is non-standard.... The 17 second VOB that creates is only 109KB, when the original m2v that I am replacing is over 7 MB.... When I attempt to open the m2v that Maestro created, it does not play the image the full 17 seconds, only flashes it up there...

I added the image to maestro simply by dragging it from the assets to the timeline, then changing the length of the clip to 17 seconds... Is this correct?

yes it is. IF the m2v isn't working I guess that u have to build the vts vob and demux the m2v u want from there.

can you use a timeout of 17 seconds to that?????

why not? Just drag the right part of the still in timeline to the position u want.

U can drag to 2 hours if u want. Doesn't know if there is a limit to it.
