Some of you may know this already, but just thought I'd post since it's a new discovery for me:D I believe this will only work for Pentium 4's due to Pipeline arcitechture.
In Environmental settings under the CPU tab, Check the box "Use Multi-thread", but leave it at one processor;)
Then check "Enable Pipeline" and "Enable Pipeline for Motion Search";)
Also set the Cache to 8000Mb if you can to save you time on 2pass VBR's:p
I believe enabling the pipeline truely shaved off at least 3-4 hours on a 2pass VBR encode of 5000Kbps @ 720x480!!
I think enabling pipeline truely uses the "whole CPU architecture"
