I have a question about backing upthe unfaithful dvd. I've successfully done multi-pgc titles before, and I'm using the doitfast4u riper tool by eyes only. Here's my question about this:

the movie is in vts_06, and for some reason there are 13 pgc's in vts_06, but after ripping, it looks like pgc 1 is the movie, and 2-12 are just clips from within the movie (these aren't clips missing from pgc01, pgc02 starts at the columbia trisar logo and goes into the movie credits, which are there with pgc01). The even wierder thing is that pgc13 of this set is also the whole movie, except the file size for the m2v is 2 gigs, while the filesize for the pgc1 is 3.5 gigs. Overall, vts_06 extracted as 9.6 gigs (including video and audio files), which is way larger than even a dvd-9, plus there were also about 1.5 gigs of extras and interviews on the disc as well.

Obviously the multiple pgcs are referring back to the specific locations on the vob files, but how do I re-create this structure after downsampling the video? I plan to author with scenarist, so I'm familar with that prog. Do I just work with the m2v file from pgc01 and manually create the other pgc references in scenarist? Are these what people refer to when they say dummy pgc files? I assumed that dummy files were blank files, but now I'm thinking that these are what people mean by dummy files, is this true. Anyway, thanks for any help.

As for the 2-12 pgc's they are probably the scene specific audio commentary by Diane Lane & Olivier Martinez.And pgc 13 is probably the director's commentary.To recreate this sounds like a nightmare,why not just rip all 3 audio tracks(the scene specific one will have only about 40min total on it)and insert dummy tracks for french and/or other audio tracks you don't need.Then reauthor the movie only with CCE & Scenarist and reinsert the vob's and run Ifoupdate.I think it will work with the original menu as Ifoupdate corrects all chapter sectors(assuming you want to keep the scene specific commentary-otherwise it's really simple).

Ok, I got it workin, actually, this is how the dvd structure layed out:

vts_01-> dummy, 0 s video-> kept the same
vts_01-> 2 pgcs; fbi logo, fox logo-> kept the same
vts_03-> 12 pgcs; deleted scenes-> kept the same
vts_04-> 1 pgc; director interview-> kept the same
vts_05-> 4 pgcs; tv spot, interviews with the 3 stars->downsampled from total 1 gig, to around 300 megs, re-authored with scenarist, and used ifoupdate to re-insert as vts_05
vts_06-> 13 pgcs; pgc1=whole movie, 2-12=10 min clips of movie, 13, whole movie, but after extraction and demuxing to m2v file it is 800 megs smaller than the m2v file demuxed from pgc01-> downsampled from 3.5 gigs to 2 gigs, reauthored with scenarist using only 1 pgc with chapter information done via scenchap, used ifoupdate to re-insert
vts_07-> 3 pgcs; movie trailers-> kept the same
vts_08-> 4 pgcs, more interviews-> downsampled, re-authored, ifoedit.
vts_09-> 1 pgc, small log file (10 megs)-> kept the same.

So after all of that, the entire dvd with all the extras works fine. I just ran ifoupdate on the vts sets that I re-authored and left the other ones exactly the same, works like a charm.
