I'm using Xvid, when I add the deinterlace(internal) filter on setting blend fields together, my video gets blured a little. Is there a way to counter the blending, or is there a better deinterlace filter that prevents or gives less blur?

there are hundreds of threads on deinterlacing. But to answer your question, you could keep it simple and just use the blur 2 fields then add a sharpening filter (msharpen, xsharpen, or unfilter). You could mess around with avisynth and use more powerful deinterlacers like Decomb. If you want to stay in the realm of virtualdub and not avisynth, there is a pretty good filter called smartdeinterlace which is fairly useful but not compared to avisynth. Look on these forums for threads on deinterlacing.

I had the same experience. I now use Smart Deinterlace(Don Graft) which works very well with the following settings: Frame and field differencing, blend, cubic, motion threshold 20, scene change 100, field swap before and after. Smart is very slow and doesn’t reduce file size by much (that’s probably good).
