Have a problem with some filez...
They always end up to small when i use g knot, even if i set the size to 700Mb for a 350Mb ep i get it to small....
But if i use vdub manually i don't have any problem ...
What's wrong... and can it be fixed???(prolly something i got wrong...)
Marry X-mas all of u!!

Hi-
even if i set the size to 700Mb for a 350Mb ep i get it to small....
What does that mean? Are you re-encoding an episode which is already an .avi to try and make it larger? Install the new GKnot 0.27 and try again. Failing that, post the log file and the .avs (but without the lines beginning with "#").
And Merry Christmas to you too, Jonas_20!

I tried to encode it from scratch twice.
once with the size set to 350 Mb.
And one with the size @ 700 Mb.
And i still won't get the final size up to 350 Mb.
I have no problems with other eps... just once in a while. (about one in 8 eps)
Will try to reinstall it.....
If u Update the 0.26 to 0.27 do i have to reinstall
divx and all that?
Or is that all good ?
Have a good holiday

Hi-
OK-I understand what you're doing now-sorry. I'd say that there's a pretty good chance that you reached maximum file size. Maybe these particular episodes where you can't reach 350MB just have less action than the others and are more compressible, or are perhaps a bit shorter than the others or something like that. Did you run a Compress Test before encoding to check? If this is DivX5 you might try and turn off B-Frames. That should give a pretty good boost to the file size.
As for installing GKnot 0.27, when you install the SystemPack, it gives you the option of what to install. I skipped the 2 codec installations and it seems to be doing OK.

Trying it out now.... hope it solves my problems..
Have another question.... can you use any filter from vdub in gkont...if so.. how do you know what to write in the script??
(or what u call it.. the edit page)
Really thanx...

Hi-
You can use most VDub filters in AviSynth, but it's kind of complicated and I've never done it because there are enough AviSynth filters to use. If you want to try, then go to AviSynth.org (http://www.avisynth.org/) and look around.
As for AviSynth filters, there are a lot already included in the new version of AviSynth installed along with the latest GKnot. To find out which ones are available, go to AviSynth Included Filters (http://www.avisynth.org/index.php?page=FiltersByCategory). For 3rd party plugins, go to the link I gave before.
As for using them, if they're already included, just edit the .avs and add the command and parameters, if any. For 3rd party plugins, you'll have to put the .dll in your GKnot folder, load the plugin (which I do by erasing one of the ones I'm not using in my current .avs and replacing it with the one I want), and then add the command and the parameters. You can do all this by editing the .avs within GKnot, or later by opening the .avs in Notepad and doing the editing there. Did any of that make any sense to you? :)
