Hello everyone.

Recently there been lots of my pc crashes, so I ended with loads of ogm files that contain damaged frames.

There was a statement by Koepi and, I believe, in ogm specs too, that oggDS is supposed to skip damaged frames and playback correctly after them.

That just doesnt happen at my pc anymore (either it worked ok earyler or I didnt download a damaged files). The video freezes. Sometimes it just skips to the end of the file. Scrolling past the damaged area makes movie play ok.

Using VDubMod the ogm parser advances to a damaged frame then stops with "invalid page" message.

And that's it. Did somebody ever experienced any similar behavior with damaged ogm files? If your stuff skips broken frames correctly, what version of oggDS do you use?

Yesterday I went back to create my 2nd XCD (uh, and I thought I would use it more often...) and if I playback that CD in my DVD drive it doesn't read XCDs correctly. So it feeds "damaged" data (clearly visible when the playback stutters and damaged images occur)... So yes, it works correctly here as it should.

win2k/sp3, dx8.1b (and now even tested with dx9).

I hope this helps,

regards
Koepi

well.. dvds/svcds/vcds are supposed to as well.. and most of the time they do.. just when things are bad enough gone, the decoder will get stuck on a frame. when its that bad the only recourse is jumping over the frame (to the next 'good' I-frame) on a dvd that usually means the next chapter.. on pc its a bit easier (slide the progress tab)

ive done about 7 mode-2 (800mb) xvid/ogms .. they all play back fine.. although the media is still in good shape..

@Koepi: which version of OggDS? 0.9.9.5?

I just generated a damaged ogm, encoded a 10 second long himo clip, and replaced several frames in the middle with random data. It freezes. :-(

My setup is win2k sp2, wmp6.4 and oggds 0995. also vobsub 2.18 is installed.

Freezes occur on both ffdshow and xvid's decompressors.

Any ideas what can cause such a behavior?
