Shoot the manual for the Trinity Non-linear system is worse than Daikin's. I asked for an Avid Media Composer and got the Trinity. But what does this have to do with Scenarist 2.7 - I don't know.

Have you tried 2.7 Arky? Or anyone else? If there's some good difference then I'm looking forward onto updating. Like the shortcuts from the keyboard...

No, I have not tried 2.7. I don't know if it's even been released.
I wouldn't worry too much about 2.7, though. Skimming through the press release, there is very little difference between 2.6 and 2.7.
I know I have been less than complimentary about Sonic (well, DVDit!, really)in the past, but I must acknowledge the fact that DVD authoring software is extremely complex to author - hell, it's hard enough just authoring DVDs WITH authoring software. Therefore, I do sympathise with them that Scenarist is not an easy program for anyone to undertake to continuously develop - I, for one, would certainly be intimidated by the prospect, even if I were a professional coder. I don't know how long it took, or how much manpower, to develop Scenarist initially, but I bet it was a HECK of a lot. Bear in mind that Scenarist has an extremely limited marketplace, and therfore, there is probably not much money to spend on such exhorbitantly expensive development. Because of this, I do not expect to ever see Scenarist change dramatically over the coming years. As you have no doubt read in another of my posts, I think the real R+D these days will be in the arena of $750-$2500 software DVD authoring solutions, since there is a bigger marketplace just waiting to be tapped, and, what is more, it's growing daily. Who knows, Sonic may prove themselves to be very competent at this in future. I doubt that this would use either the DVDit! or ReelDVD formats though.

For those interested the pdf with 2.7 list the following as Resolved and Known issues
Resolved Issues
***************
Scenarist 2.7 addresses the following issues:
UOP at Cell Level
When setting a UOP at the Cell level, the UOP information is no longer carried over to the first
VOBU of the following Cell.
Audio Availability Flag
When using a track in multiple titles within the same VTS and the Audio Availability Flag is
changed for one of the titles, Scenarist now successfully builds the DVD Volume.
Tag Serial Number
The Descriptor for Tag_Serial_Number of the DVD Volume is now set correctly.
Placeholder Command
The Placeholder -> Data command now works with video streams that have embedded
timecode.
Region 7
Regional Code #7 (reserved) now defaults to “May be played,” which is required when creating DVDVideo
for DVD-Audio hybrid applications.
Video_TS.bup Handling
The Layout engine no longer places Video_TS.bup in the same ECC block as Video_TS.ifo.
Drive Recognition
DVD-R general drives are now successfully recognized after installing Scenarist.
About Scenarist
The About Scenarist dialog now correctly identifies the operating system in use.
Known Issues
************
Scenarist 2.7 includes the following outstanding issues, some of which have workarounds:
Sort Tracks
When using the Sort Tracks dialog, the displayed sizes for Layer 0 and Layer 1 are only estimates. This
could result in a faulty disc where the Layer 0 size may be exceeded (even though the displayed size is 95%).
Workaround: Multiplex all tracks for more precise calculations of layer sizes in the Sort Tracks dialog.
Multiple Subtitles in 16:9 Projects
In some instances, subtitle mapping is incorrect when using the same language
names with 16:9 projects. Workaround: In the Scenario Editor, select the PGC, double-click the Subpicture
Attributes entry in the Property Browser, and correct the mapping manually.
Still Image Encoding
Regardless of the Bit Rate setting in the Default Settings dialog, a still backgrounds are
always encoded at the highest quality. Workaround: None.
Save As Command
Using the Save As command to overwrite the current project results in an empty file.
Workaround: When using the Save As command, make sure to enter a different filename.

AHA! I knew it. 2.6 also has this issue. I once posted something about this and the person who replied told me that "my conclusions were incorrect"... I knew I wasn't crazy :)
Only trouble is that the "workaround" doesn't always work because in some cases, the number subpicture streams in the Subpicture Attributes (property browser window) doesn't correspond to the actual number of subpicture streams in the particular track but rather to the number of different languages in that track.
I suspect the problem is exacerbated by having 2 subtitle streams (one for Widescreen and one for Pan-scan: only required in 16:9 as stated above) for each desired playback stream. By the combination of this and assigning the same language to all individual streams, somehow Scenarist gets mixed up in the process and can't tell which pair of streams belong together and which ones don't.
Thank God this can easily be fixed in IFOedit after multiplexing the VOB fileset. :D
