It was already frustrating trying to hammer out the final bugs in a file-hosting app a friend is helping me with, while the server was being stupid & slow as usual. Then I got http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=2352&group_id=1projweb (http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=2352&group_id=1#projweb)this notice: On 2002-11-30, world-writable and web server-owned files (i.e. those that were writable by the nfsnobody user) were removed for
all projects. Didn't affect us since we aren't using said app yet, but could've been catastrophic; worse, this is apparently an ongoing policy of theirs.
SourceForge has been good to us, overall, but it's time to get a real hosting provider. Y'all shouldn't notice any change in service (other than much faster loading and the forthcoming filehosting app I'll be offering to plugin developers), but I'll post here when I switch over the DNS just in case.
(and yes, I'm finally leaving town now...ciao...)
