Small problem with ac3 audio playback...

I've got a few movies that used AC3 for the audio. I insatlled the audio filters and registered em, but when i play the divx movie, and i try to forward thru the movie the audio stops. please help ;[

Are you using the one from doom9 or the one from here : http://sourceforge.net/projects/ac3filter

If ur using the latter, then i have the same problem with it !!

It's extremely slow, on seeking and sometimes on playback :(
Although i liked the fact that i can watch movies in WMP8 and not have to use WMP6.4! (since the dom9 filters need always to be configured to 6channels since they get reset to 2 channels when u play a new movie.. and WMP8/9 dont allow to configure the DSF!)

BTW, does anybody know how to configure the doom9 filter so it'll always be set to 6channels, no matter where i play it?

P.S. how do you people use the doom9 filter anyway, it's a 'blocked' version and allows only playback of 2ch! so i updated the iviaudio.ax file and now i can access all the 6ch.

i actually tried both, I installed one and then installed the other, not sure if it overwrote the doom9 ones or what happend....

Certain options will be disabled or unselectable if the filter doesn't fully support your sound card or you happen to have crap drivers (ie. Creative).

I suggest uninstalling and unregistering the Intervideo(iviaudio.ax) filters and using Valex's AC3filter. Version 0.62b seems to be the latest and addresses a seeking bug I think. Good luck.

oh your sound card has to support it? i just have a basic one that came with my computer, how to u remove and unregister the other iviaudio files?

Creative Sound Blaster PCI, do i need a different sound card so i can fast forward through a movie?

It doesnt have to do with a soundcard.

I installed the doom9 filters and everything was disabled but 2channels.

i uninstalled them, replaced the iviaudio.ax with a file that i had from a registered windvd platinum, installed the plugin again, and all worked, and nothing was disabled!!

WinDVD's trial version has a demo filter, and the doom9 pack has a demo filter, from a very very old windvd version!

Anyways, MaTTeR, what do you use for watching AC3 soundtrack movies?

Like I said above, the older filter versions will sometimes not recognize certain sound cards and you will only have limited use such as 2/0. The newer version of the Intervideo filters seem to support a wider range of cards and allows all features as you found out.

I no longer use the Intervideo filter at all but instead I use Valex's AC3 filter along with Core Media Player (aka. PowerDivx-private beta, soon to be public) or Zoom Player via SPDIF out.

What makes you think Doom9's Intervideo filter is a demo version? I sent those 2 versions to him along time ago after thoroughly testing them on 3 different systems here with non-Creative sound cards. I also had 2 or 3 other users test them before Doom9 made them available for download. They worked fine then and AFAIK he hasn't changed the package.

One of PowerDivx's developers himself noted that it's a demo filter.

I've tried it on Audigy1/2 and a Live! 5.1 card and all was greyed out.

You need to have WinDVD registered to have it work corectly
