View Full Version : does CCE encode time change with file types?

The last few files I remember use CCE to make SVCDs were Xvid's, Divx3 and they were going at around .794

Now I'm doing a divx5pro (done them before in another OS but don't remember how long it took) in WinXP and all of a sudden it's only going .460? and it goes up and down.

All the files I"m talking about are pretty much the same length

The resolution in this one is 712x392 and I'm making it into 480x480.

I wonder if that has anything to do.

I know the other files that I make 480x480 (letterboxed) go at full speed. Probably because this one is full screen perhaps? (Just remembered doing a full screen one the other day at normal speed)

It also says beside filesize (2.2mbps)

It used to say 1.5mbps but with the speed more closer to 0.8

My conclusion.

Xvid and Divx 3 decompress easier. I'm only using Divx5pro as a decoder for all DiVX content.

Times in virtualdub for video scan for stream errors were significantly higher for Divx5 encoded files thus resulting in a slower CCE encode speed and a higher encode time.

I thought something was going nuts with my winXP.

BTW XP users, don't mess around with priority settings. XP does a pretty good job on it's on, and when you change one, it messes a lotta things around :)

Thanks. Mods can delete this thread if they want. Solved my own problem
