is it possible? can i append 2 avi files if they both have vbr audio? virtualdub wont let me append the files because the audio sampling rates are slightly different in the 2 files. is there a way around this without having to separate the audio and video of both files and joining them back together later? i have never done anything beyond simply re-encoding avi's to smaller sizes so im still kind of new to this. thanks a lot

Premiere will let you join anything you want. Try that, if the sampling rates are really close.

However - if the sampling rates are very different, I would demux and remux. Use cool edit to change the waves to a different sample rate, as it does a much better job. Premiere tends to put a hiss or weird noise in when converting sample rates.
