Ok,I'm gonna be trying the CCE+ifoedit guide(nice guide) I was wondering a couple of things.
Can i use this method to backup my tvseries dvd's which have 4 episodes per disc.i know I need to encode with cce to reduce the file
sizes.
Regarding the audio dummies, pgcs 1-4 have ac3(0x80) 6 ch and the 5th one has ac3(0x81) 2 ch fo rthe 5th would I put a dummy ac 2ch in the first pgc so it corrosponds directly after the 6ch then put the dummy 6ch(0x80) in the remaining pgc's?
Can I add the subs colour at the beginning of the project and also set 4 titles as the beginning of the projext e.g. when you first create it scenarist asks how many titles you'd like and also has the options for subs colour or do you have to do as the guide says.
Any answers would be welcome,I believe I understand the guide but would like some answers to these questions so I have grasped it correctly.
Finally a big thanks to all those to cho contribute to this forum it's due to people like yourselves we can create such high quality backups of our dvd,s:)

zxsdef: I commend you for doing your homework before asking questions. If only there were more like you!
Now onto the questions.
You almost have it correct. But it works like this. If a previous track has an audio type, you must duplicate it for subsequent tracks. Not vice versa. So in your example, nothing 'dummy' is needed for pgcs 1-4, but a dummy 6ch ac3 is needed for the first slot of pgc5.
Can I add the subs colour at the beginning of the project and also set 4 titles as the beginning of the projext e.g. when you first create it scenarist asks how many titles you'd like and also has the options for subs colour or do you have to do as the guide says. Scenarist doesnt ask you how many titles you want anywhere during the wizard. Titles are created in the Scenario Editor after you've added the tracks and all assets. Keep the sub colors the default from the wizard, subrip uses these colors by default so it's the easiest way. Before saving your .sst in subrip, select output format>scenarist and set your colors manually there. the numbers correspond to the numbers in the palette when you open up the the palette editor in Scenarist.
Last but not least... please don't ask more questions until you've actually TRIED the method. It will make much more sense to you then, and you'll avoid retribution from the pros who feel a guide should be tried before asked about.
Have fun!

Thanks Eyes only.I will be trying it tomorrow night.
You may be right I should try first but as a pro knows it best to have some queries answered before trying to increase the success rate.
Iwas just wondering if I needed to add dummy ac3 2 channel files to the 1st pgc as it has 2ch in pgc 5 not 1-4 but you have answered that so thanks for that.
If a pro wishes to slag me off for that ok,even a pro has to learn somewhere and yes I agree they are prob responsible for the easier methods available today for intermediates like myself.I'll know in future and thanks again for the info m8.
I have read the guide about 15 times now so I can absorb what I am reading and those queries were simply to assure myself I had understood(or not) what I was reading.
I didn't want to try a tv series to find out it wasn't poss with this method and all the work be wasted for something I could have asked about before attempting it.
If I don't post again I've gotten stuck!!

Like I said, kudos for doing research. I mentioned trying before posting because it would eliminate needless questions. Case in point. If you HAD tried your original idea of dummy audio files, Scenarist wouldnt have let you do it. It would have been fairly simple to figure out from that point where you erred, and then the solution. So.. see? Even that question, which i did answer for you, had a high probability of not being asked in the first place if you had attempted this before posting. ;)If I don't post again I've gotten stuck!! That's the only time you SHOULD post! :D

You're right and point taken (try then ask).I like going in at the deep end with things maybe not the best idea when dealing with authoring but I really want to master this for my own satisfaction and I beleive the best way to learn is go in deep and immerse myself.
Anyway if I post tomorrow night(or maybe thurs, see how it goes) I may have a prob but if I do I'll be actually in the process of trying it out.

Zxsdef,
I have done M.A.S.H. tv series using Trilight's guide. Each disk had 8 episodes all in the same vts set. Using his method worked very well and I believe easier than the cce/ifoedit method. You can find it here:
http://www.trilight.com/multipgc/
Take a look at it.

Eyes only m8 you there,ok I have actually completed my first one but have a prob, the first set of vobs from original file totalled 6 I know only have 3 and order is vts 1 vts 3 vts 04 so it seems I'm missing vts 2 and vts 6?? but I have completed all the remaining steps and prassi has accepted the folder for burning which to me anyway is a good sign as it seems to know a coaster and doesn't burn.Any idea'd regarding the missing vts??
I added 6 titles as per original and I 'm sure I added all as per guide,I did NOT do subtitles but as far as I understand the guide these have no bearing and the option simple will do nothing if selected.I am burning right now and will see what the disc does but I have done it so any ideas why vts 01_2(vob) seems to be missing, carelessness in adding perhaps??

I'm here zxsdef, but this type of question is better suited to IRC. It seems like you're confusing certain 'keywords'. How about you grab mIRC from http://www.mirc.com, join Efnet IRC, and find me in the #doom9 channel?

Eyes only I tried to get mirc but it can't seem to connect.I have a dvd with only 1 pgc.I think it wise to try that first.
ok the dummys won't load up the file(s) get rejected in scenarist(for the multi pgc I tried initially),I am about to print off the dummy file guideand re-read but the file is NOT accepted and i used besliced, simply draggedon the man with moustache and then a besliced file was in the file I copied it from and I transferred to besliced file to folder it was needed in so i knew where it was.
I understand the guide(I do) but do not understand the dummy audio's.
I have a dvd which has a 1 ch ac3.
I'll keep trying anyway I reckon I'll get the 1pgc sorted no probs as there are no dummy files involved.
I have not included subs will this have an adverse affect or simply mean there are no subs when they are selected(I can always remove with ifoedit from the menu)
I'll find out why mirc ain't connecting,as you say would make life alot easier.
I'll connect to the doom area once I have it sorted and see if I can catch you there for the multi pgc films.
Thanks again and ai WILL eventually succeed ,just might no tbe this year!

Well we'll be in #doom9 when you finally get thru. Make sure to connect to an EFNet server, that's important.
As for dummy ac3, I make them using Headac3he. Select your real ac3, set the starting frame to 1 and the ending frame to 3, and create yourself a dummy ac3. These get accepted by Scenarist.
