I am trying to make a back up of legally blonde.
The problems that I am having are, the movie plays on my computers DVD to a certain point and starts to skip. I try to rip and it gives me errors. ASPI Command Error !
I can play the DVD on my home TV DVD player, and it works fine.
This is my second copy of the DVD I thought there was something wrong with the disk.
So I thought that maybe something is wrong with the DVD drive well I watched and ripped a different movie with no problem.
I just don't get it.
I am running Win XP and Win Me. I have tried the process in both OS and got the same results.
Any Ideas would really be appreciated.
Thanks for the help

Tell me the 'sense area interpretation' when that aspi command error comes up.
Its probably just a read error (or 3 million!) - is the disc scratched at all? If you've just bought it, take it back and get another one.

It says,
DVD Decrypter;
ASPI Command Error!
Device: [1:0:0] Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-308B
Host adapter Status:0x02
Interpretation: Host adapterDid Not detect an error
Target Status; 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition
CDB: A8 00 00 30 41 18 00 00 00 01 00 00
Interpretation: Read (12) - Sector; 3162392
Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 06 00 00 00 00 02 00
Interpretation: No seek Complete
End ------
The DVD has wide screen and standard. It happens in both modes. It happens in different areas but real close.
Why would it play on my home DVD player and not the computer.
Oh yea when playing the dvd it starts to skip and then lock up. Power DVD says to check disk but disk is clean.
This is the second disk.
I am going to go to the movie rental place and get it and try and see if I get the same thing.
The rip problems happen in Dvd decrypter, Smart Ripper,CladDVDXp, and Dod speed ripper.
I have cleaned the disk, tried different modes ASPI, Normal, any type of setting changes but no luck.
I hope you can figure this out because I can't.
Thanks

'No Seek Complete' - This means the drive cannot focus on a particular sector and hence read data from it. Just click the retry button a few times, if that fails, click ignore. You might have to do this a few times! Dont worry though, after the fifth 'ignore' you can choose to ignore all errors. Just leave it going...it might take a while, but it WILL work in the end.
Try turning ON fast error skip too..that might help to speed up the extraction of the dodgy area. Its not program related - no one program will be able to read the disc better than any other one. Some will just handle it better than others.

hi,
Thanks for the advice.
I did what you said and it took 12 hours to do one vob.
I then tried to play it and it was messed up.
I still don't understand why the dvd will play on my home dvd player but not my computer dvd player.
Well thanks again,
Randy:p

Did you ever get that problem sorted. I have got 2 separate disks stopping at exactly the same point and with the same message as yours. I also have a Samsung 308B.

Maybe somebody can explain why this works. I started DVD Decryptor with a single-layer (silver) DVD and let it authenticate. Next I opened the drawer and stuck back in the dual layer disk with the problem you mentioned. This time it worked perfect. I think the Samsung 308B combo may be the problem, I don't know!

Yes i did get the problem sorted out.
I went and got a different DVD. The one I had was messed up in some way.
Try another copy if possible.
