i've been having this problem with div3 as well as div5 encodes, so i believe it is a vdub/nandub problem...i'm using the subtitle filter to load subs made with SSA as well as donald grafts' logo filter...my problem is this...in the preview, they look great the edges are nice and crisp, but after encoding they turn out looking like garbage...i've tried sshq, warpsharp, 2dcleaner, and picfix in various combinations, as well as leaving them out altogether, before and after the logo and sub filters and the problem remains...can you tell me why?
thanks

well, it seems that i have found an answer to my own query, so ill post my fix for anyone else who may experience something similar...
the SSA subs i had loaded were created with an opentype font (tahoma) when i switched to a Truetype font, they come out nice and clear in the final...i dont' know if it is something in the way the letters are constructed, but apparently they dont' jive with compression

as for the logos, they were OT font words as well, just as a symbol instead of text

btw...is it possible to use SSA to fade text? or a similar program that can...
thanks

Don't know if SSA can do this, but ASS can. You just have to use Textsub instead of subtitler.

You would place {\fad(xxx,yyy)} before the subtitle where xxx is the fade-in in milliseconds (e.g. 333) and yyy the fade-out.

yes {\fad} works with SSA as well, thanks a lot :)
