View Full Version : What to do about a DVD that won't "authenticate"

Hello all - any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

I'm using DVD2SVCD along with Cinemacraft Encoder. I have no problems ripping/encoding most DVDs but once in a while, like last night, I'll get a DVD that will not "authenticate". I've tried hitting the cd logo a couple of times and it says the same thing - "not authenticated".

I've read that one should try to play the DVD with PC software like WinDVD - i've tried that too. I'll play it, then go back to DVD2SVCD and click on the silver CD icon to authenticate it, and the same message flashes briefly indicating "not autheticated".

Of course, the ripping freezes during the encoding portion of CCE.

What can I do? Please help! Thank you!

All problems belong in basics.

Of course, the ripping freezes during the encoding portion of CCE.
Huh? Ripping is done way ahead of any encoding.
Step 1 Rip
Step About 5 Start CCE.

Have you kept WinDVD open and the movie paused while starting the rip?

You may have to manually locate the correct IFO file. DVD2SVCD may not be finding it. Just click on the folder icon next to the cd icon and navigate to the Video_TS directory. Try the largest IFO file first.

What version of DVD2SVCD are you using?
Are you using Internal Routines or Vstrip to try and rip?

If what markrb suggested dosen't fix your problem, uninstall reinstall dvd2svcd also uninstall your aspi and reinstall that, then reboot your system when your done and try again:)
