hi guys i can't seem to get my video size right. I'm using gordion knot and since i can't select which audio overhead i need to use (i use ogg) i switch it to vbrmp3 so that it calculates @ least some overhead and i put in 96kbps for audio bitrate. but then everytime i encode my video it always oversize (i have to do it in 2 seperate passes not @ the same time cos i have to add keyframes and such).
Is their a calculator out there for .ogm files to be more specific div3 and ogg in an .ogm file?? I tried using the nandub calculator but it doesn't calculate overhead.
thanx

I always hit my target size on-spot when using this calculation:
700mb (size of the cdr) - 3mb (guessed overhead, for movies <2h just take 2 mb) * 1024 = X kb usable.
Encode the audio.
X - size of audio = Y kb usable for the movie (with xvid you're done now, for div3 you've to calculate your bitrate now from that).
I hope this helps.

k i'll try that out lemme get this straight if it's an hour it's about 1mb 2hr=2mb so on so forth,... but because thatss a rough estimate u do 3mb just in case?
700mb total useable space -3mb overhead do your audio first so u know exactly how much space to make use of for the video.
sounds assuring, thanx neway

I've found that different bitrate for your Ogg audio gives a different muxing overhead as well. If you use a higher quality setting, the muxing overhead is higher.

well i use like q 2.97 which is 96kbps so would i b safe to presume 3mb

I had good results with this:
701mb - audioSize -(1/20 * audioSize) = videoSize
