Hello everybody:

I used GKnot for the first time, and the gknot log said the job was done OK. But for some reason, the newly encoded movie can only be played correctly on "Divx playa 2.0" which comes bundled in Divx 5.02 bundle. On other players I have here (WMP, MicroDVD, Radlight) I get only a gray screen but the audio is OK.

After this I checked that all my "Divx 3.11" encoded videos were all gray too. I think that maybe GKnot messed with something in the system?

Can anyone help me plz? I have already tried to uninstall Gknot and all the codecs and re-install them, but no success.

If you installed Gknot after you installed DivX 5.02, and you also installed DivX 4 from the Gknot install -- part of the default install -- you will have overlayed DivX 5 files with DivX 4 files, and can have problems.

Start Virtual Dub, and check to see what DivX codecs are available. Use the Video...Compression command and scroll through the list of codecs.

To completely remove Gknot, start it, select the Options tab, and "Delete Registry Entries." Then exit the program and delete the folder structure.

To delete DivX codecs, select "Sounds & Multimedia" from the contol panel -- video codecs can be found in the "Hardware" tab. This varies slightly between releases of Windows, but you'll figure it out.

To re-install Gknot, de-select DivX 4 during the install, and after Gknot is installed, then install DivX 5.02.
