Has anybody of you hauppage users had any succes in making the hauppage software work with BTWincap drivers? If so what do I need to change, probably just some deviceID, but I don't really know how...

Afaik, you can't use the hauppauge-soft with the btwincap drivers - the hauppauge-driver is a vfw-driver and the btwincap-driver is a wdm-driver.

But if anyone found a solution, please speak up.

So you can't use WinTv (what other soft is there to use?) - oh well, just use another Tv-software like moretv in conjunction with btwincap-switcher, if you encounter system-lockups (can be found on doom9.org ;-))

It doesn't seem to work :'( moretv says it doesn't find a BT chipset and also in virtualdub I can't enable the BT tweaker. :'( Dscaler works.

After installing the latest BTWINCAPS it thinks it's a "conexant BtPCI blah blah blah"

What OS do you use? I used Win2k together with moretv3.52, btwincap 5.33 and btwincapswitcher.
I experienced problems with win98se (including the unusability of vdub together with btwincap (couldn't change capture driver) --> had to use Avi I/O).
I also tried to install the btwincap's on WinMe (friend's PC) and, well BSOD... very nice.

I did some comparisons win98se (with hauppauge-drivers) vs. win2k (btwincap), regarding capture-performance. And I must say, that there's little to no difference. Win2k is a bit better, but not noticably (well, it drops a frame every 5000 instead of 4000). So if you are using win98se, and don't need the extra picture-tuning-functions, stay with the (newest) hauppauge-drivers, they are really good.

I tested the performance by measuring the amount of streaks that appear at high capture-resolutions on my PC. [My via-kt133 board with TB900 together with Sblive! produces nasty streaks with picvideo mjpeg >640x480 and with huffyuv even at 384x288 (rare appearances), no matter what I do (via4in1-driver, pci-latency-patch, deactivating all usb-stuff, newest detonator-driver)]

I have Win XP running on an Athlon 2000+, sbaudigy, 256 MB PC2700 RAM.

I use the very latest btwincap driver and no btwincapswitch...

I also find it very strange that dscaler 'skips' from time to time, even with my should-be-fast 2000+ if it wouldn't skip, it would be the best program in the world I guess for viewing tv...

As long as you install btwindrv you probably will not be ever to use your old tuner software you have to choose either or. Which means any wdm compatible piece of software will still work. The wdm2vfw wrapper seems to work with me fine with virtualdub, but of course I am using another card. I've not needed the bt tweaker, just use the Video menu then source, then device settings you can tweak all the bt settings you could before without using the tweaker. I'm using a older 1.4.10 havent upgraded yet to see how the newer VirtualDub works with btwindrv...
