I have an AIW 8500 and want to know what the best software to capture and burn to dvd. Seems the only way I can get anythign to work correctly is to use the 8mbps capture. I don't want to only be able to get 1 hour on a dvd.

Hi,

Please provide some more details.
Are you using MMC 7.7 from ATI?
Do you absolutely need realtime MPEG2 encoding?
Are you willing to capture in uncompressed AVI and then encode in CCE or something? (MUCH MUCH better quality)

You mention 8mbps, so I'm assuming you're using full D1 resolution of 720x480. Maybe you didn't know, but 1/2 D1 (352x480) is a valid DVD resolution, and you can get great results when your source is not the greatest, and at only 2.5 mbps. This will allow you to fit much more than 1 hour on a DVD.

Ok. I changed my settings for 720x480 at 4mbps. I am using the latest MMC. I noticed I am getting around 1% dropped frames. Seems jerky on the video playback. I have a P4 1.7 GHz. I am using the Svideo cable for my recording on directv. Just trying to get the best quality as I can for getting 2 hours on a dvd. Is there any settings that should be enabled. I am not sure of all the damn settings you can adjust.
