Hello,

i've some problems encoding Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
I used Gordian Knot to make a 3 CD DivX 3.11a SBC Rip with included AC3 Sound. Bitrate is average to 1584 kBits/s. The first time i got a nearly perfect rip. Neary perfect because I had some artefacts (macro-blocking ....). So I used the Anti-Shit option with 16 db. Artefacts are gone, movie is really perfect but viewing I noticed a new - never expected problem. In some scenes where the artefacts did not appear my PC isn't able to play the movie smoothly from HDD (BS-Player, Windows Media Player....). I think the problem is a too big bitrate in these scenes. Same problem with a Anti-Shit db value of 10.

Should I try another Anti-Shit value or is it possible to limit the bitrate to a specific maximum?

Tnx in advance

my System:
Athlon TB 1,4 GHz

Geforce 2 MX 32 MB
Win2000 Prof. SP 3

Hi-

Does the movie play OK without sound (if you still have just the video portion)?

My guess is bad interleaving values. Try 96ms/96ms for pre-load and interleaving values. Or check out the AC3 Q&A (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18318) for other possible values.

Also, if you're getting stuttering playback only before splitting, and the total file size is over 2 GB, then that's the problem. If you go ahead and split it, it should be OK.

Hi,

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the problem is not the interleaving of the AC3 Track.

But perhaps your second tip is usefull. Movie size is over 2 GB and i'll try splitting it and check it again.

Thanks a lot!
