I have been using smartripper, but thought about trying dvd decryptor and was wondering if it allows u to demux streams that have been already ripped like smartripper does, or do u have to have the disk still? I dont see the option for my hd only my cd/dvd drives....hmmm
thanks

Not to my knowledge, but I believe it is vastly superior to smart ripper.

DVD Decrypter can only rip from the DVD drive. You can use vStrip to demux a file on your hd.

Be nice if they add that feature on the next version....Thanks

DVD Decrypter v2.4 can demux the video and audio from a vob file on your computer (if demux means extract).

Version 3 works in a very different way to version 2 and as such reading from the hdd isnt possible without A LOT of changes - which will probably do more harm than good.
Making a slight change to the way you do things will mean you can copy the disc to your hdd and still be able to rip from it.
That change is basically using ISO mode to create an image of the disc on your hdd, and then mounting the image in DAEMON Tools. Its virtual drive can then be ripped from again, using DVD Decrypter.
You can play the disc from that virtual drive in any software player - they dont need to support playing from the hdd as they would need to when just ripping the files.
All you do for iso mode is put the disc in and click the decrypt button. Simple :)

Right now i am grabbing at staws...I dont have the disk anymore, but i do have all the files on the hd. I cant get a good rip of the ac3 file on Star Wars 2. It doesnt want to parse into Maestro, so i thought i would try dvd decryptor since thats about the only one left to try. I will try mounting it like u said after i try vstrip one more time. Thanks

i still have that version of dvd decypter; for that specific reason too, and the lastest version, just leave your email address, if you want to me send it to you; unless there's a reason why i shouldn't?

Thanks for the offer, but i was able to get it from Doom's downloads.
That unfortunately did not fix my problem getting a clean ac3 stream from starwars2. I am running out of ideas. I think vstrip would have been my best bet but it hangs at 32% then awhile later jumps to 90%, but file size doesnt reflect the whole ac3 file.

I assume that you just have a collection of vobs on your HDD? cause if so and all you want to do is demux, have you tried DVD2AVI?

Yes, tried dvd2avi, smartripper, dvd decryptor, vobedit, ifoedit, mpegutil, and vstrip. I would have thought vstrip was my best chance but for some reason it hangs around 32% then few minutes later jumps to 90%. I guess i will spend some more time on this beast. I probably should see if anyone that got a good rip can transfer the file to me cause this is frustrating

i also tried angles 2 and 3 and still no go. The closes i got so far ac3machine, but when it deleted the bad frames the movie became out of synce on the last third of the movie.
Vobrator didnt do it for me either :(
This really s___s cause i have a good cce m2v file. Oh, i also tried remuxing it back using ifoedit, but way out of sync.

I dont understand the problem here...if the vobs are on your hdd, there is no reason for anything to hang. Its not like your hdd is going to have a scratch on it or anything! (Common for dvd discs).
Did you try making an ISO out of the file and then ripping from the DAEMON Tools drive with DVD Decrypter?
If you have, and it failed, what was the error?

i did try the iso routine...still no luck. The only thing i can think of is the rip was corrupt. So, now i am going to try a different ripper other than smartripper and see if i have better luck.
I will try what was done on this thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=222383#post222383
my fingers are crossed :)
will report back

i am still having trouble with this movie(star wars 2) trying to get a ripped ac3 track. Has anyone demux track1 ac3 6ch english and got it to import into Maestro? I spent a lot of time getting the video good in cce, just cant get the audio to import. If someone out there was able to get a good rip...what and how did u do it?

Ive done it.
I just used IFO mode and stream processing within DVD Decrypter to get the m2v and ac3 files.
I re-encoded the m2v to make it fit, and then authored in Maestro.
It all went very smoothly.

@LIGHTNING UK!
have you still got the code for the old versions ? could you make a small exe that basically only demuxed ? just a thought ? but i guess there isn't much demand (rare case)?

well in theory, vobedit can do that so there is little point. You can still download version 2.4 from doom9 if you really really want it.

oh i see , just thought it would help some people out , but if the older version is still around for download then there is no point in making another version.

Hy guys!
Sorry for putting this thread to the top, but I am (and I think many of us have) having this hdd problem:
1. Movie fully ripped to hdd with Dvddecrypter. This step is needed because subrip 1.14 and uop doesn't like css, so just makes funny bmp-s.
2. I would like to reuse dvddecrypter to demux (to have ac3-s, m2v) the whole, but no way, tried with imgtools, but decrypter does'nt see it. I know this isn't the way, but too much room is needed for making an image of an already ripped movie (lets say one time for first rip, then second time for image, third time for demux, and nearly 4 time because of reencoded video, 5 for maestro authored version, and 6 to be sure of the result.) If a movie is 5G then it will be 5*6 =30G for a single movie.
This is my problem a little bit overinflated but not too far from reality.
So in the future will there be any way to use dvddecrypter to demux from hdd without building an image??
(demuxed files with Smartripper are making errors when importing in Maestro, vstrip not used, vobrator crashes, vobedit is good but U have to search for beginning of the movie if first movie vob is not beginning with film but with crap). So the way to go is dvddcrypter.
Thanks im advance
BTW there is no more older version of decrypter in download section of doom9
